Harmonies Harmonies and more Harmonies
My journey began on an upright piano in my grandparent’s living room. At the age of five, I was singing and playing Scott Joplin tunes, thrilled by the magic of blending piano and voice. By 13, I was spending hours in my room with two cassette tape recorders, layering vocals to my favorite James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carole King, and Crosby, Stills & Nash songs.
In high school and college, I performed with a cappella groups and sat in with local bands, but it wasn’t until I packed up and moved to San Francisco after college that I truly began to pursue my dream of singing professionally. I moved through a variety of bands and lineups, writing, playing, and recording alongside many talented Bay Area artists, including rising stars like Train and Box Set. I was the lead vocalist for the popular ’80s/’90s cover band The Distractions, and I was fortunate to share the stage with legends like Boz Scaggs, John Lee Hooker, Spin Doctors, and members of Big Head Todd.
At 27, everything came together when a lineup of all-star musicians formed YellowWood Junction. Rooted in a love of harmony and creative passion, we headlined venues like Great American Music Hall, Sweetwater, Slim’s, and Bimbo’s Nightclub, touring the western states and recording our full-length studio album, After Today. (Fun fact: our gifted keyboardist Tim Westergren later founded Pandora!)
Today, I’m more passionate about music than ever. My latest single, Mimi's Hands, inspired by the remarkable Mimi Sammis and her life’s mission to create world peace, was released on January 1, 2025. This song reflects my evolving journey as an artist, blending life experiences, hope, and storytelling through melody and harmony. It’s the first glimpse of my upcoming album, which I’m currently recording in Nashville. This new project is the culmination of years of growth, exploration, and love for music.
Whether collaborating with young artists or veteran players, I live to fill my life with beautiful sounds.
Harmony remains my first love, and I’m thrilled to continue sharing it with the world.
